The government isn't sure concerning the cigarette displays

The House of Assembly has recently passed the bill that prohibits the smoking in cars if there is’are present children.

It was also discussed the reducing the size of point-of-sale displays for tobacco products in shops. New displays will be reduced from four square meters to one.

Also, the problem of banning the cigarette displays was discussed. The Greens want a total ban on the displays.

This initiative was suported by the representative of The Liberals, Brett Whiteley, but the Liberals want to wait for some years before introducing the entire amendment. Whiteley suggested the introducing of the amendment will be achieved in over three years.

However, Government MPs refused to introduce any changes in the stabled rules. The State Health Minister, Ms Lara Giddings told parliament she was not prepared to support the changes at this stage. She said that there was a certain merit in giving that some further consideration.

She stated: What I want to be able to do is go away and consider that further before it is brought into the upper house and we can then discuss that in the Upper House.

The Upper House ought to discuss the legislation. It is expected that a similar amendment will be proposed.
