Smoking is not an offence but artIn India, health department asks the celebrities not to smoke cheap cigarettes online on screen as this action encourages children to light up. Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss warned the stars Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan about effects of screen smoking for the reason that it is a bad example for young generation that often start to smoke seeing celebrities in movies. Anbumani Ramadoss encourages them to take as concrete example Tamil film actor Rajnikant, who accepted the Minister’s suggestion to quit smoking on screen. Khan has responded that celebrities should have “creative liberties”. “As filmmakers we should have creative liberties because cinema is all about make believe,” Shah Rukh said. Though, Shah Rukh showed concern over new trend among teenagers to smoke and the actor agreed with Anbumani Ramadoss that it is a pressing problem for society. Recently, Health minister has accused Ruch of smoking during a cricket match in Mumbai. In 2004 in India was introduced smoking ban, and Rukh’s behavior is against the law. The National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication asked Shah Rukh to explain his action during the cricket match. In his defense, Shah Rukh said that the cricket stadium is a private club. Moreover, there wasn’t a sign that announce that there smoking is prohibited. |
