Altadis has raised prices for smokes


Franco- Spanish tobacco enterprise raised prices on home market for all its cigarettes. This decision was stated by Spain official government in an official report.

As of Wednesday, all Altadis’ tobacco products became pricey with 0.10 Euro per pack.

New prices were published in Official State Gazette on January 9, 2008.

Rising of cost affected similarly its blonde and dark tobacco products.

So, one pack of famous Fortuna cigs would now cost EUR2.5, in comparison with old price of EUR2.4. For Ducados Spanish smokers would pay 2.30 Euro, instead of 2.20. Additional 10 cents were added to cost of Fortuna cigarettes, as now this brand costs 3.10.

Prices increase only on domestic market. Though, any guarantee that prices would remain the same for outside tobacco markets wasn't offered.

Altadis is the third largest cigarette manufacturer from Western Europe and worldwide supplier and manufacturer of cigarettes, tobacco and cigars.

Recently, this important tobacco producer was acquired by the world's fourth largest international tobacco company, Imperial Tobacco. Imperial Tobacco had paid 50 euro per Altadis share.

Spanish smokers ought to spend more money not only for Altadis’ products. Philip Morris also increased the price for various brands including Marlboro, between 5 and 10 cents last week.
