Smoking ban, but what about tobacco farms?

Analyzing in part economy of US states, its can be noticed that namely for North Carolina state tobacco is primarily product on what are based entire economy.

Carolina is the leading producer of tobacco in the country and it remains fundamental to the local financial system. As result of last events that occurred in this sphere (restriction on public usage of cigarettes in almost all US states), tobacco farmers has led some growers to switch to other crops or leave farming altogether. This changes influenced state economy, and of course life of Carolina’s citizens.

Grow up of tobacco plays important role for state. Tobacco farms realize a significant role in history of North Carolina. In memory of those times it was created Tobacco Farm Life Museum that is now leaded by Lynn Wagner. This museum founded by tobacco farming families who realized their way of life “was becoming obsolete”.

“At the turn of the century, early 1900''s, there was a boom," said Lynn Wagner, "Roads, schools, warehouses, hospitals were all built because of tobacco warehouse market." Also she added, “The impact that crop had affected all aspects of the economy. It put money in the pockets of people.”

We all are witnesses of confrontation of past and future, two parts that seems to never come together. Who will win will show time, but we hope that will be no victims.

Now, tobacco farmers changed its production and grow other crops, but cigarette tobacco remains important for economic impact of Carolina.

Lynn Wagner said that “the demand is still there. More of our tobacco is shipped overseas but it is still an important commodity to our state.”

On tobacco fields of this state are still grow around 159,000 acres. What to expect for future is hard to predict, but one thing at this moment became very notably: life of its citizens is changing.

What resolution will find governor for “state of tobacc/o” isn’t known, but they must take into account that is good it or is bad, but tobacco is vital component of this state. As Wagner said “Just because we grow a lot of tobacco here doesn't mean North Carolina has to be the ones who smoke all of the tobacco.”
