Smoking saves from Parkinson's disease.

Making an investigation about description or indicia of Parkinson's disease, it can be found out on special projected online site that:”… the symptoms ofa Parkinson’s disease, or Parkinsonism (PD), result from the degeneration of nerve cells in the mid-brain, and the corresponding loss of the neurotransmitting chemical dopamine produced by those cells. More specifically, Parkinson’s is a disorder of body movement. It is a progressive neurological disease that affects people of either sex or all ethnic groups.

PD is NOT fatal. It is NOT infectious. It CANNOT be transmitted to other members of the family. Symptoms of Parkinson’s are tremor (shaking), of one or more parts of the body, muscular rigidity, fatigue, difficulty with fine movements and poor handwriting are other symptoms often experienced early in the disease. Each person’s pattern of symptoms is unique. Some people have only one or two of the main symptoms. Others may have all major symptoms in varying degrees of severity.

Parkinson’s disease is caused by the failure of a group of nerve cells in the brain to produce adequate amounts of a chemical called dopamine. Dopamine is necessary for smooth, coordinated movement and muscle relaxation. It is not known why the cells cease producing dopamine. However, it is likely that research will soon provide the answer…” (source cited).

As it is said every beginning had its end. Now this disease can be prevented, at least for those who smoke tobacco. Studies find that smokers are less affected by this disease. Primarily this is due to components found in tobacco that open comes in form of cigarettes, pipe and chewing tobacco.

This is also related to people who have stopped smoking years earlier.

Finding was discovered by University of California Los Angeles School of Public Health that involved in this research more than 11,800 people of whom 2,816 had Parkinson's disease. Results are based on 11 studies done between 1960 and 2004.

As investigators sustained it wasn’t yet detected what specifically serve as preventer, but fact that it really helps was proved. “Our analyses confirmed prior reports of an inverse association between cigarette smoking and Parkinson's disease. Although we found that current smokers and those who had continued to smoke to within five years of Parkinson's disease diagnosis exhibited the lowest risk, a decrease in risk (13 per cent to 32 per cent) was also observed in those who had quit smoking up to 25 years prior to Parkinson's disease diagnosis,” it said.

It was added: “Other cigarette tobacco products also appeared to be protective. Men who smoked pipes or cigars had a 54 per cent lower risk. The number of chewing tobacco users was small, but there was a suggestion of reduced risk associated with this product.”
