Split cig packs bannedA cigarette pack split into two smaller packs was banned in Australia after consumers’ appeals. Anti-smoking activist groups suppose such a method of packaging can make the cigarettes more available for young people. Doctors say children of parents - smokers are more likely to begin smoking than those who do not; the part of regular smokers is constituted by 6% of 13-year-olds and 19% of 15-year-olds in Scotland. Dr Andrew Thomson, Scottish member of the BMA's board of science considers that everything must be done to make cheap cigarettes online less accessible to children. He supposes that it is necessary to increase the purchase age to 18 and ban 10- cigs packs; it will make tobacco products more expensive, a fewer number of children will have the possibility to buy them. At present the split cig packs have been removed from sale. |
