Giving Smoking up is Harmful for Health

Those who decided to stop smoking can face a number of unpleasant symptoms within a couple of weeks, passed without filter cigarettes. More frequent chills and sores on the tunica mucosa of mouth often become apparent. The scientists think it can influence the probability of the smoking resumption, that’s why, it is very important to inform the smokers about possible problems.

The researches who published the reports about their investigation in the Tobacco Control Journal, a supplement to British Medical Journal, kept 174 smokers under the physicians’ observation during the first weeks of their quitting the tobacco. It turned out that by the end of the first and second weeks the former smokers had more chances to catch a cold, cough, sneeze, sore throats etc. The sores on the tunica mucosa were ordinary within this period.

After six weeks the side effects of quitting the smoking were already expressed progressively less. They assume they are stipulated for the fact the immune system is suppressed for a certain period after giving smoking up. Moreover, it may play a certain part the fact the smoking itself has an antimicrobial effect.

As it was pointed out by the researches from the Psychology department of the Saint George Medical School, they do not have an authentic view on the influence of the smoking quitting consequences on the rate of persons who return to the cigs and tobacco. However, a certain psychological training can weaken this influence, as doctor Michael Ussher noticed.
